Roads to Koktebel (2003)

"A widowed aeronautics engineer, who has lost his job, travels with his son hopping freight trains from Moscow to Koktebel, a town by the Black Sea, to start a new life with the father's sister."

Damn that IMDb description! It just told you the story of the whole film!!! Yup, that's just about it.

It's Russian and it's a bit slow. Technically, the acting is first class and it's nicely filmed. It isn't particularly memorable though and a lot more could have been made out of the subject matter.

Not every foreign film is a good one and this is an example of something that is just slightly below average. Oh, and before you ask, it isn't a horror film. I just watched it because I fancied it as a change.

The IMDb fanboys have gone nuts over it (rating it as 9 out of 10 etc.) but it's just a 3 out of 10 from me. I'm sorry, but "Roads to Koktebel" is just not that good.
