Since there's not much else happening right now, I thought I'd check out the ads for the Black Friday sales and let you all know where you can get some cheap horror DVDs.
Wal-Mart
Wal-Mart has a ton of movies (actually 90 titles) at $1.96 each, 55 better titles at the usual $5 each, and 60 TV series boxsets at $12 a piece. How many of these will be horror movies is anyone's guess especially as their "Featured DVD" section is currently full of vampire and werewolf movies for $7.50 each anyway including "Near Dark" and the "Ginger Snaps" sequels.
Target
Target are running much the same deals on DVDs as Wal-Mart with slight differences in price. Their cheapest DVDs will be $1.99, $5.99 or $9.99 depending on how recent they are. Target's TV series sets are a dollar more than Wal-Mart's at $12.99 but the advantage is that if you really want "The Vampire Diaries" then you won't be pestered by noisy Salvation Army bellringing beggars on the way in or out.
K-Mart
Although nobody much shops there much anymore, K-Mart are bound to claw back a few customers with the "4 Film Favorites" packs which they will be selling for $5 each. That's $8 less than Wal-Mart and $5 less than Target for the same thing. From their ad, it looks like you can get all the "Final Destination" movies for $5 and probably a few more too. They also have 50 other titles to go through at $3.99 and $6.99 respectively.
Big Lots!
Apart from Season 2 of "Friday the 13th: The Series" at $6 among dozens of other TV series sets, there really isn't much more worth going to Big Lots for on Black Friday. They always have stacks of $3 DVDs all year round so you might get lucky with any of the Halloween leftovers.
Best Buy
From the ad, it looks like Best Buy are selling DVDs at the same prices as K-Mart but they have better titles. You will certainly be able to get "Drag Me to Hell" for $3.99 and "Legion", "I am Legend" and "Daybreakers" all at $5.99 (or $9.99 on Blu-ray).
Personally, I have better things to do at 5am in the morning than get crushed to death by hoards of the great unwashed all descending on the electronics sections of these major stores. If you haven't got a Blu-Ray player yet then just about everywhere seems to be selling them from $59 to $99 depending on the brand and I'm sure they'll have more of the same in the post-Christmas sales too. Target has a $19 Memorex DVD player which is sure to fly off the shelves.
Wal-Mart once again has an Emachines laptop at $199 which I'm almost tempted to get out of bed for and K-Mart has a disastrously bad no-name netbook for $89 which can stay there.
One year I might be tempted to wait out in the freezing cold at stupid o'clock in the morning but, from the leaked Black Friday ads which I've found online, it won't be this one.
