Puppetmaster/Killjoy - 12 movies for $5!

I bought this multipack two weeks ago from Wal-mart for only $5, but I don't think that I posted anything about it except on Facebook and Twitter.

As you can see from the scan, I haven't even opened it yet so I can't tell you anything about the quality of the transfers or how the movies are arranged on the DVDs. I intended to have a marathon "Puppetmaster" day, but I fell asleep in a big furry heap with Willow (my cat not the kids' movie) instead. It's only the later movies that I haven't seen anyway.

Here are the synopses from the Echo Bridge Home Entertainment site where they are still selling this pack for $19.99:

PUPPET MASTER
A demonic crew of puppets unleash their murderous talents on psychics investigating their owner, Andre Toulon.

PUPPET MASTER 2
Toulon's army of assassin puppets exhume their beloved creator to gather the brain matter that keeps them alive, but the Puppet Master has a deadly plan of his own.

PUPPET MASTER 3: TOULON'S REVENGE
After Toulon escapes a kidnapping attempt that killed his wife, he exacts revenge with Six Shooter, Blade and Leech Woman, a new army of mini-murderers.

PUPPET MASTER 4
Blade, Tunneler, Pinhead and the newest head-swapping puppet, Decapitron, go toe-to-toe with their most menacing enemy yet—a team of terrifying gremlin-like creatures.

PUPPET MASTER 5
Caught between two foes, the half-pint heroes must preserve the magic formula which gives them life...while Puppet Master Rick's life hangs in the balance.

CURSE OF THE PUPPET MASTER
Toulon's puppets have a new master in backwoods scientist, Dr. Magrew, who has been desperately trying to duplicate the great Puppet Master's work.

RETRO PUPPET MASTER
Young Toulon is taught the secret of life by an Egyptian sorcerer, but then becomes the target of an evil god.

PUPPET MASTER: THE LEGACY
Toulon's reanimation formula is in jeopardy when a rogue agent threatens its protector.

PUPPET MASTER: AXIS OF EVIL
A young man named Danny saves Toulon's puppets after his death and must now bring them to life to defeat the axis of evil.

KILLJOY
When an outcast is bullied to death, a killer clown exacts revenge in his honor. His name is Killjoy and he thinks murder is a laughing matter.

KILLJOY 2
On a wilderness rehabilitation trip, a group of at-risk youth find themselves in the home of a voodoo woman where Killjoy's spirit is summoned.

KILLJOY 3
A group of unsuspecting college students accidentally open the portal to Killjoy's demon realm and get trapped in a strange funhouse world with the killer clown and his friends.

One thing to beware of if you go to Wal-mart is that they also have a pack of just the 9 "Puppetmaster" movies for the same price, and that's the one which is on the racks rather than in the $5 bin. It's still a good deal if you don't want the "Killjoy" movies, and the artwork is better anyway.

I found this pack in the bargain bin at the front of the store and saw that there was also one copy in the regular bargain bin next to the DVD section. I don't think that they are as rare as the Lionsgate multipacks which had everyone on a wild goose chase last year, but don't be surprised if your local Wal-mart doesn't have any left. From the sticker at the top right, it looks like they've had these since March.

If you can't find it or don't have a Wal-mart, you can also get this pack from Amazon for $4.99. The best price is coming up as $1.37 right now, but that's without the shipping.

Dr Blood's Big Day Out 2013

My "Big Day Out" for this year actually took place over Friday and Saturday, but what with one thing and another, I was too exhausted to write about it until today. I walked miles with the sweat pouring off me, got almost boiled alive by the humidity, and really had enough of going through rows and rows of dusty DVDs. There comes a point when you realise that you already have far too many DVDs and it's time to stop, especially when the pawn shops now have less horror DVDs than you do at home.

As you know, I used to love going round the pawn shops to see what I could find and usually tried to hit them whenever I had an abundance of "internet money" (from Amazon affiliate sales or whatever). Basically, it was like getting free DVDs so that I could do more blogging.

For those of you seeking online entertainment through my rants, you already know that I hate most of the DVDs I get. Somebody else hated them enough to flip them in the first place too. Unfortunately, with affiliate sales and blog traffic at an all time low right across the board, I haven't had one of these "Pawn Shop Adventures" for quite some time. I'm far from rich (at the moment) so most of my money goes on necessities such as Monster energy drinks, Funyuns, and cat food. Admittedly, I probably need to do something about my Monster addiction, but it stops my migraines. It's also a pity that cats can't eat Funyuns. At least we can share the tins of Friskies.

Anyway, here's what I got this time:

I know, I know... I said that I wasn't going to buy more "Midnight Horror" DVDs, but at $2.50 each (as part of a 4 for $10 deal) for another 16 movies, why not?

In the first pack, I have "Night of the Living Dead" (for the 15th time!), "Keepsake", "My Sweet Killer", "Interview with a Serial Killer", "Final Remains", "Dark Woods", and "Colour from the Dark". Other than "Night of the Living Dead", I have no idea what these will be like.

In the "Hatchets & Cleavers" pack, I have "Dirt Boy", "The Ridge", "Green River", "Animal Room", "Followed Home", "Loaded", "Hollywood Scarefest", and "The Killing Mind". The fact that I can't even find some of these titles on the IMDb doesn't bode well.

I've been intrigued by the Cutting Edge Cinema/Extreme collections from R Squared Films since they came out last year, but I have a feeling that they'll just be handycam crap. I wouldn't buy the one with zombies on it anyway. In this case, I now have "Extreme Monsters" which is made up of "Closet Space", "Dreams of the Dead", "Evil Offspring", "Little Red Devil", "Spirits of the Fall", "The Whistler", "Where the Dogs Divide Her" (I like the sound of this one!), and "They Must Eat". The DVD case was damaged (the clear plastic was completely gone), but the artwork is still perfect so I'll just put everything in a new double DVD case if the movies are any good... which I doubt.

I bought another Echo Bridge Home Entertainment 8 pack just to break up the monotony of horror even though three (maybe four) of the movies may be horror in this "Action Thrillers" set. Some of these I already have or have already seen: "The Faculty" (already have with "Phantoms"), "The Hole" (already seen), "Animal Room" (is on the other 8 pack above), "The Lookout", "Living in Peril", "The Road Killers" (really good Christopher Lambert movie), "Two Hands", and "The I Inside" (which sounds familiar to me for some reason).

From the more expensive "DVD and Games Exchange Store" next door, I found the newer "Special Collector's Edition" of "Pet Sematary" because I lost my older copy anyway. I wrote about how I lost it ages ago, and I still haven't found it. They also had the older version for the same $5 price, but I chose this one. The older version has the same artwork as the VHS but doesn't have Mary Lambert's commentary on it.

And finally, last and very least, I have a new double-pack of coasters to replace the "Halloween" coaster that I had to throw away after using it to scrape dried cat shit off the floor. Call me wasteful, but that's how I roll. I get used to things being a certain way, and using Rob Zombie's "Halloween" as a coaster for my cold Monster energy drinks is just one of the things that makes me special.

I finished my adventure off with a half-day at the local "Riverfest" where I ate a burger and three "Hello Kitty" ice lollies. I know you don't care about that (nor do I really), but here's the scan of two of the "Popsicle" wrappers because I'm a hoarder and they were still in my pocket when I got home.

Now it's time to start watching all these movies.

When Animals Strike Back!

I went to Sam's Club this afternoon and saw these two volumes of "When Animals Strike Back" for only $7.99 each. That's half the Amazon price! I thought they were a good deal but didn't buy them... yet.

Volume 1 is the better of the two with "King Kong" (1976), "Orca" (1977), and "Congo" (1995). I can't justify rebuying the Stephen King films on Volume 2 especially as "Silver Bullet" (1985) doesn't really fit as an animal attack film. Werewolves aren't real animals, you know.

"Graveyard Shift" (1990), "Silver Bullet" (1985) and "Pet Sematary" (1989) are also available in a four movie pack along with "The Dead Zone" (1983) although not at Sam's Club, Wal-mart or Target. If you want to save yourself the space of one DVD on your shelves, it's the better (and more expensive) option.

Curiously, all the popular DVD stores are selling the "Pet Sematary" Special Collector's Edition separately even though the same version is included in the "When Animals Strike Back" set. Why would you pay $7.99 or more for one movie when you can have three for the same price? It makes no sense.

Both "When Animals Strike Back" volumes contain 3 separate discs (as far as I know) rather than being compressed or having two of the movies on a flipper. As usual with anything from Paramount, there aren't any special features (except those for "Pet Sematary"), but the movies are all widescreen and have subtitles available.

If, like me, you don't already have these in your collection, they might be something to add to your Christmas list.

Dr Blood's Big Day Out

The hot weather came back with a vengeance yesterday. I think it was over 95 degrees again and the forecast says that there is another week of this awfulness to come. It's pretty much killing me, destroying my concentration, and, most importantly, it's really disrupting my blogging.

Instead of going down to the basement, sitting in a corner and crying (which is what I felt like doing), I went out for an adventure. As you know, I don't like to leave the house or the cats on Saturdays (or most other days of the week for that matter) except to go to the pawn shop so you can guess where I went.

Yes, I went to the pawn shop again... but also to a few other places as well.

Finally! "Jennifer's Body" turned up! I'd been refusing to buy this from Wal-mart since it came out because the price never dropped below $10 for it. This movie is three years old so it should have been in the $5 bin ages ago. Now I have it and for only $2.50 too.

"The Midnight Horror Collection - Vol. 2" from Echo Bridge Home Entertainment was definitely in the Wal-mart $5 bin but I could never find it. I only collect the ones labelled "Midnight Horror" and not the "Masters of Terror" multi-packs.

Nearly all of the "Masters of Terror" collections are culled from the bigger 4, 5, 6 (and 11) movie Miramax franchise multi-packs but repackaged with a lot of crap from the earlier "4 Horror Films" collector's sets. The "Midnight Horror" multi-packs also contain a few titles from those earlier packs (especially volumes 4 to 6 which repackage all of them) but, since I never bought the final "4 Horror Films" collector's set, this had nothing on it which I've ever seen before. The titles are "Haunted From Within", "Doll Graveyard", "Watch Me", "The Fear Chamber", "Deadfall Trail", "Zombie Dearest", "Demonic Toys 2", and "Evil Bong 2: King Bong". I won't be buying the third volume because it double-dips 5 movies from the first two volumes and only adds three more really crappy ones.

I wish I had a better excuse for buying "Memoirs of a Geisha" other than it's probably the kind of thing which my mum would have watched if she hadn't died of cancer nine years ago. She used to watch all the period romances and she would have really liked this one. She worked in a Japanese hotel until four months before the end and she loved it there for some bizarre reason.

Apart from eating a lot of sushi, I'm not a big Japanophile. I do like all the Japanese people who I've met in real life and, yesterday, I went to a new Japanese restaurant to try it out so that's another reason why I bought "Memoirs of a Geisha".

Just to complete the "4 for $10" deal, I grabbed this "Pulp Fiction" Collector's Edition. It's a 2 disc set in that strange hybrid packaging of plastic and cardboard which things like the Universal Legacy Collection, "Unbreakable", and "Unforgiven" came out in. I think I may have a few more movies which were released like this but I don't remember which ones right now. I've already seen this movie dozens of times but my cats haven't.

That wasn't the end of my day. I also went to Target, looked through the DVDs, and bought absolutely nothing there. There wasn't anything new, no bargains apart from "Orphan" for $5, and I still didn't get that new Melissa George film since it turned out not to be horror after all.

I then went to Wilson Farms and bought two large tubs of Neopolitan ice cream since they had a "buy one get one free" deal going on. I didn't have to have Neopolitan but that's the only Perry's one I like even though the strawberry part has little bits of strawberry in it. I can't stand ice cream with bits in it.

So, that was my big day out. The heat and humidity was so oppressive that, when I came home, I was exhausted and had to go to bed early with the ceiling fan on full blast. If I hadn't woke up with toothache, I'd still be there completely oblivious to this Hellish weather. Sleeping is the only escape I have from this nightmare.

Back to the Wal-mart bin!

It's been a while since I last checked out Wal-mart. I can't remember how long exactly but I don't think that I've been there in the last month. It's not that I'm trying to cut back on my DVD buying addiction, but simply that there hasn't been anything new which I just had to rush out and buy. I've also been slightly more enamoured with Target lately but that's another story.

I had a little bit of a shock this time in Wal-mart. There wasn't just one "$5 bin" but two!!! Both were loaded to overflowing with DVDs, but that wasn't the great thing which you'd expect. You see, if the bins are overloaded that much, you just can't get to any of the good stuff without pulling up a shopping cart and sifting armfuls of DVDs into it. I still ended up playing a giant game of "KerPlunk" with DVDs falling on the floor everywhere although nobody seemed to care. Anybody who did see me probably felt a little bit sorry for me as it was obvious that I was some kind of DVD maniac.

Anyway, after an hour's routing through all the movies I already had, all I ended up with were "Halloween II" and a better than average "8 Movie Action Pack" from Echo Bridge.

Before you all start calling me a hypocrite for buying a movie which you know I'll probably hate and will never review, just remember that it was only $5! I have the first one somewhere too (although it was tempting me to turn it into a coaster) so it's just for completeness. When you get to the stage I have in your own horror movie DVD collecting obsession, you'll understand.

I also had to buy the 8 pack for one movie. No, not "Equilibrium", "Cypher" (which I only just reviewed), "Fortress" or "Prophecy" (I have the 5 pack of those), It certainly wasn't for "Convict 762", "Imposter" or whatever the hell "Total Recall 2070" is. If you've been working it out, yes, it was for "Trancers" (curiously labelled "Trancers I"). I know it's a bit crappy but I liked it at the time and it's still the best out of the whole series.

From the back of the box (which wraps around 2 normal DVD-cased 4 movie packs), you can see that the big seller for this set is supposed to be "Total Recall 2070". I swear to you that I have never even heard of it before and assume that it's some kind of SyFy channel or other TV movie ripoff. We have a "Total Recall" remake coming to cinemas in a couple of weeks as well so I can see why those clever buggers at Echo Bridge put this out for June 2012. It's probably going to suck (and the remake will suck even harder) but, once again, this whole pack of 8 movies was only $5 so should I really care?

I couldn't be bothered to do any more digging through the piles of DVDs in Wal-mart. My arms were tired and it took me another 30 minutes or so to put them all back.

From the other DVD shelves, it looked as if everything was set up for "Father's Day". I have no idea what that is, when it is, or why it is. If American fathers really do like any of those war movies and vintage sports crap, I'd be most surprised and saddened as well. I'm only a father to two adopted cats and there was nothing there for me. I was tempted by a couple of Mill Creek Entertainment 100 (2 x 50) Mystery packs at $17.85 but I let them go... for now.

I couldn't even find the "New Releases" section this time, got misled into a weird $12 section full of Blu-ray and DVD combo packs, briefly scanned the overpriced TV-on-DVD shelves, and, as usual, I simply finished my purchases off with some beef jerky and a Monster energy drink.

It'll probably be another month before I go back to Wal-mart. I used to love it but they don't seem to be carrying as much horror in their stores as they do online anymore.

A trip to Wal-mart, double-dips and upgrades

I just did my monthly trip to Wally World to see what was new, what I could afford and what was overpriced.

Starting with the scary "new release" shelves which I'm not going to pay full price for, I saw "The Innkeepers", "The Darkest Hour", "The Divide" and "Underworld Awakening". There were also a couple of horror movies which I've never heard of, don't know the names of any of the actors in, can't remember the titles of and which I assume are handycam crap.

Moving on to the $10 shelves, I only noticed that "Jennifer's Body" was still hanging onto the $9.98 price tag while "Orphan" has disappeared into the bargain bin. A double-feature of "Alien" and "Aliens" was also there. A few others which I have no interest in such as the "Nightmare on Elm Street", "Final Destination" and "Critters" 4 packs were on the other side although I think they are due to be moved into the $7.50 section soon.

Of course, I was straight into the $5 bargain bin as usual and, from all the other Echo Bridge horror packs, I decided to get another "Midnight Horror" pack (above). Obviously I really needed yet another copy of "Night of the Living Dead" (not!) but the collection I chose had more movies on it which I haven't seen than any other.

I also decided to get the "After Dark Horrorfest III" pack because it's the best out of all of the After Dark festival years (although that's not exactly a compliment). The movies are barebones and come on two DVD discs with four on one side rather than two on each side which you have to flip. I've only watched the first DVD before writing this post and it was okay. "Slaughter" was the best of a bad lot although "Autopsy" was pretty gory. For $5, I'm not going to complain too much.

Being a big Antonio Baderas fan has its drawbacks because I then spent more money than I wanted to by buying "The 13th Warrior" from the $5 section as well. It's not a very good film but there's a little bit of gore in it and enough ludicrous moments to keep my overly critical self amused for a while. Muslims and Vikings versus cannibals? Yeah, I think you can all work out the historical inaccuracies in this one.

Finally, while I was out and about, I also paid a visit to my other favourite DVD exchange store where I double-dipped "An American Werewolf in London" with the "Full Moon Edition". I'm still keeping the older version though.

In a further moment of weakness, I upgraded my VHS copy of "The Shining" to the identical DVD version even though it had one of those crappy cardboard cases that sticks too far out of the shelf and catches on the DVD next to it.

I've spent far too much money this week.

2, 4, 6, 8... Who do we appreciate?

Lionsgate!!!

Unless you've been living under a rock for the last month, you must have heard about the latest multipack releases from Lionsgate and the whole kerfuffle about finding any of them in the $5 bargain bins at Wal-mart.

It seems that some horror fans have been lucky enough to find the 8 pack (Waxwork / 976-Evil 2 / Ghoulies 3: Ghoulies Go To College / The Unholy / C.H.U.D. 2 / Chopping Mall / Slaughter High / Class of 1999) and 6 pack (Blood Diner / Parents / Earth Girls Are Easy / Sundown / Fido / Boy Eats Girl), and a few have also found the less interesting "Living Dead" 6 pack (Bride of Re-Animator / Beyond Re-Animator / Return of the Living Dead 3 / Return of the Living Dead: Necropolis / Return of the Living Dead: Rave to the Grave / Night of the Living Dead 3D). Of course, there have been so many cases of resellers buying every copy they could find to put on eBay and Amazon (at five or six times the original price!) that the multipacks are now rarer than hen's teeth in the wild.

The picture above isn't of my own copies of these elusive DVDs, it's just one that I found by searching through Google Images. I haven't been to Wal-mart for almost a month now and have virtually no interest in the contents of these multipacks at all. Although I find it interesting that Lionsgate have finally started to release a few titles from the enormous catalogue of older movies which they have been sitting on, I wish they had done it better.

You see, none of these movies are particularly good ones anyway. They range from average to absolutely awful and there are far too many comedies in the packs to make me want to purchase them. I already have "Boy Eats Girl" on a previous Lionsgate 4 pack from Wal-mart (along with "Drive Thru", "Creep" and "Tamara"), don't want the inferior Re-Animator or Living Dead sequels (especially as the only good one, "Return of the Living Dead 3", is cut except on VHS), and I really couldn't care less about any of the other films on those packs.

Another oddity is how the films have been compressed onto the DVDs. They aren't double-sided flippers as you would expect but, in the case of the 8 pack, are two single-sided DVDs with 4 films on one side. This isn't as bad as it sounds even though there is bound to be a slight loss in quality, but it's a very unusual way of doing things. It goes without saying that these are all "bare bones" DVDs with no special features either.

I'm not into DVD piracy but, as an experiment, I actually ripped the films from a few of my own DVDs and burned four of them to a DVD+R (not even a DVD-R which is slightly bigger) and the result wasn't all that different to the original give or take a few (barely noticeable) blocky artifacts occasionally. So I got to thinking that this is what the DVD manufacturers should have been doing all along rather than cramming the discs with a load of superfluous crap which nobody ever watches anyway. I don't need three commentaries, subtitles in a dozen languages, the theatrical trailer and yet another boring five minute "Making of" featurette to be able to enjoy the film itself.

With Echo Bridge releasing similar quality multipacks (and, of course, Mill Creek being the masters of this practice already), wouldn't it be nice to see all of our favourite horror movies released this way from now on? Not only would it be a lot cheaper to have enormous DVD collections but the space saving alone would be worth it. If you've ever tried to move thousands of DVDs from one house (or one country) to another, you'll know exactly what I mean.

The biggest advantage of multi-feature DVDs, however, is their ease of use. Although there have been attempts by Sony to create "DVD jukeboxes", most people have normal DVD players and having to get up to change the DVD from the box under the TV has always been annoying. Being able to watch more than one film on a single DVD has always been the ideal choice for most viewers since we're all pretty lazy and it's surprising that it's taken until now for the companies to realise that and to finally start using the storage medium properly. Possibly, it's the way that people have happily switched to the lower-quality streaming services such as Netflix and Hulu which has given everybody a well-deserved kick up the backside.

If only the DVD manufacturers would stop ramming the alleged "superior image quality" of Blu-ray down our throats at every opportunity and start creating Blu-rays of all the franchises on one disc then they might start selling a few more of them again. In the current economy, most people aren't stupid enough to waste $20 or $30 on one movie but they might still pay that for the entire "Nightmare on Elm Street", "Friday the 13th" or "Halloween" series.

Even if the movie industry is too greedy to ever go that route, we can be sure that the current trend in low-priced multipacks will continue for quite some time. Happy hunting in Wal-mart's bargain bins!

Wal-mart has 2860 horror DVDs

Well, Wal-mart sort of has 2680 horror DVDs. I got bored and looked up all the horror titles currently available from Wal-mart. If you remove all the duplicates, non-horror movies which are in the wrong section, and really crappy ones, it's still quite an impressive catalogue of well over 2000.

If you were to only watch a couple of horror movies each day, it would take you nearly 6 years to watch every horror movie which Wal-mart has available, although if you only wanted to watch good ones and avoid all that low-budget, handycam dreck, it would take you about 6 months.

A lot of hatred gets slung at the success of Wal-mart due the alleged damage to small (and often overpriced) businesses, but they've never done me any harm. As a small business owner, I wouldn't have been able to afford half the things I needed if it wasn't for the Wal-mart corporation, and as a horror movie lover, I certainly wouldn't have the collection which I have now if I'd had to rely on Best Buy, Blockbuster or FYE with their often ridiculous prices

Of course, I also buy a lot of movies from pawn shops, which 9 times out of 10 were originally purchased by someone from Wal-mart, so that's another reason why I love their stores. It's a very rare thing for me to ever go beyond the prices of Wal-mart's bargain bin or $5.00 range for a DVD because, honestly, DVDs aren't really worth anything anyway, no matter how important they may seem to those of us who collect them.

At the present time, I probably still buy four to eight DVDs a week. I don't have cable television or Netflix anymore, so I prefer to spend my money on physical copies of horror movies. I'm not a big fan of downloading (either legally or illegally), but I have watched a few movies online only to go out and buy the DVD properly. I'd guess that I'm one of the exceptions to the rule though, as there are some people nowadays who have massive collections of nothing but downloaded movies and wouldn't dream of buying a DVD or giving anything back to the industry.

Anyway, I just thought I'd share my discovery. I didn't know that Wal-mart had so many horror movies available. It sucks that they have stopped restocking a lot of good horror movies which they used to have, but there's really nothing much to complain about at all with what they have now.

Happy St. Patrick's Day 2012

If you are looking for something to watch tonight, check out your local Wal-mart's bargain bin where you will find the first four "Leprechaun" movies in one pack for only $5.

You can also get the same thing from Amazon for only a couple of dollars more.

A trip to Walmart in search of horror

Depending on how much of a snob you are, nearly every trip to Walmart can be classified as horror but, personally, I love the place and, other than Big Lots, it's the store where I buy most of my DVDs. This, therefore, is a recap of the horror DVDs which I've seen there today and what I think of them.

Four Film Collection (Dracula's Curse / Bled / Bram Stoker's Dracula's Guest / Fangs)In the $5 bins, I saw "From Dusk Till Dawn", "Interview with the Vampire", a four-film vampire collection ("Dracula's Curse", "Bled", "Bram Stoker's Dracula's Guest", "Fangs") and the first three "Puppetmaster" films as an Echo Bridge triple-feature which ruined the theme that was going on there. About a hundred copies of "Beetlejuice" were in the bargain bin too but I didn't even want one of them.

Over on the "expensive" DVD shelves, there wasn't anything new that interested me but I was amazed at how many triple and quadruple DVD collections are now available featuring one slightly below average horror film and two or three others that you've never heard of. Most of these are from Echo Bridge and should be avoided unless you want to severely disappoint yourself. Yes, I have already been fooled by them several times myself.

I only have one question to the people who put these collections together, just how many copies of "Dreamcatcher" and "Queen of the Damned" do they think anyone actually needs? The same titles are on four different multi-feature packs. Let me answer that for you though. None.

Blade Collection: 4 Film FavoritesThere were a few "4 Film Favorites" such as "Blade", "Critters" and the two "Nightmare on Elm Street" collections which are worth the $10 but, the thing which horrified me the most was how many copies of films by The Asylum were sitting there full of their own self-importance as if anyone is ever going to buy them. I have to admit though that the artwork on the DVD sleeves is really good even if it has very little to do with what you'll actually see on screen. If I was very rich and/or stupid, I'd probably buy all of them and think I was really cool for having the world's biggest collection of crap.

Twilight (Two-Disc Special Edition)On the end caps, something even more worrying was going on. Films that are now three years old were still being sold for $13. In particular, it's the Twilight series. Now, as you know, I've seen all these films and, especially as "New Moon" sucked hardest, there is no way that "Twilight" or "New Moon" should still be at full price. Why aren't they $10, $7.50 or even $5? Even "Orphan" and "Jennifer's Body" have finally gone down from $13 to $10 and those are very good films in comparison. Sometimes Walmart's prices simply have no rhyme or reason to them.

In the new releases section, the latest arrival was "Stake Land" but I didn't notice anything else there which was horror.

Anyway, I suppose I should have taken pictures but knowing my luck, I would have been sued for some kind of copyright infringement and forcibly ejected before I could buy the packet of "Mike and Ike" candy, two chocolate doughnuts, and the Monster energy drink that I was clutching all the way round.

Here's a picture of the "Mike and Ikes" and empty Monster can, I already ate the doughnuts before I got home.

I didn't buy any DVDs this time and it'll probably be a while before I go to Walmart again due to the financially crippling situation I'm in right now from owing my dentist for an hour and half's work with several more to come. Yes, you can see from my diet of sweeties how that all came about.

Have you been to Walmart lately? Have you bought anything good or any of the Multi-Features? Let me know in the comments below.
