Hudson Horror Show 11

Hudson Horror Show 11 - 35mm Film Festival Announcement

"The Rules of Hudson Horror Show" Trailer:

Official Press Release:

Fresh off a sold out show at the Alamo Drafthouse, Hudson Horror Show returns to the hallowed grounds of the Empire South Hills 8 in Poughkeepsie, NY! In our sixth year and presented by Vinegar Syndrome and the B Movie Film Vault, Hudson Horror #11 is a 12 hour retro film festival, with all movies being presented from vintage 35mm films.

Show #11 features five full length movies plus dozens of retro trailers and ads, plus vendors selling horror related toys, t-shirts and more! B Movie Film Vault will open the show with A MYSTERY MOVIE! We don’t know what it is, but we know it will be good. OK, maybe it will be bad. But we guarantee it will be fun, and it will off 35mm.

Vinegar Syndrome presents a very special screening of MADMAN! While they have digitally restored this cult slasher for their beautiful new DVD/Blu Ray special edition (which they will have for sale at the show) they will be presenting an original release 35mm print of this long lost shocker! To make it even more special, MADMAN producer Gary Sales and Madman Marz himself, actor Paul Ehlers, will be in attendance to introduce the movie and do a live Q &A!

We love a good revenge story and one of the truly best is Ms. 45! Abel Ferrara’s rape/revenge flick is just as powerful as ever and we are pleased to get this gritty grindhouse meets arthouse classic back up on the big screen at Hudson Horror Show #11.

It’s time to get weird with the awesome awkwardness of NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 2: FREDDY’S REVENGE! The first of the many Elm Street sequels is celebrating its 30th anniversary and that makes it high time to bask in its insanity.

We’ll close the show with a whopper of a tale and arguably one of the greatest movies of all time, a special 40th anniversary screening of JAWS! No clean, digital restoration here as in true Hudson Horror style we are presenting a beautifully weathered vintage 35mm film print!

Our last show was a record setting advance sell out and tickets for this show will go on sale Saturday, March 28th, 2015 at 12pm E.S. T. Advance tickets are just $31.00 for 12 hours of movie madness! Click here on March 28th http://www.hudsonhorror.com/purchase-tickets/.

As always we’ll have vendors selling toys, DVD’s, t-shirts and other merchandise. Vinegar Syndrome will be set up selling copies of MADMAN and all of their other DVD’s and Blu Rays. If you are interested in being a vendor, or if you have a question about the show, shoot us an email at info@hudsonhorror.com. Keep watching our website and Facebook page for more info and we’ll see you on Saturday, June 13th, 2015 for Hudson Horror Show#11!

Nazithon: Decadence and Destruction (2013)

If you're anything like me (and I sincerely hope that you aren't), your knowledge of Naziploitation probably begins and ends with "Ilsa: She Wolf of the SS" (1975). Give or take the sequels, there's not much in these movies for horror fans.

To say that Naziploitation has a niche audience of sado-masochists, perverts, and people who just like looking at sexy women dressed in Hugo Boss uniforms may be over-generalising, but there's definitely a stigma attached to this subgenre for all the right reasons. However, just out of curiosity, I decided to try out the new GrindhouseFlix site from Full Moon to see what this stuff was all about.

GrindhouseFlix is a nicely designed site with some truly weird and wonderful movies on it (with more due to be added every month). I found the navigation and sign-up process very easy indeed, but the best bit is that the video streaming software which they use behind the scenes works on Linux. Unlike Netflix (which is unusable on Ubuntu even though there's now an unofficial way of getting it to work using WINE), GrindhouseFlix works on any modern operating system.

I used a promo code to watch "Nazithon" for free so it would be churlish of me to look a gift horse in the mouth, but I have to say that the collection of trailers and clips is hardly an in-depth documentary. Basically, it's a collection of most of the nudie bits from the Naziploitation movies. There's nothing wrong with that at all, but I wish that I'd used my freebie on a full length movie instead.

Being my usual cynical self, I'd guess that "Nazithon" is really meant to be a taster (or teaser) for some of the movies which are eventually going to be available on the site, but I still got something out of it. I made a list of anything which looked interesting including "SS Hell Camp", "Salon Kitty", and "The Damned" so that I can watch them later. I'm sorry to say that clips of "Zombie Lake" didn't impress me, but that's because I've had a gutful of zombies anyway.

The hosts of this excursion into "Decadence and Destruction" aren't natural comperes, and I couldn't tell you who either of them are in the entertainment industry without looking them up. There's nothing she can do about it now, but Michelle McGee has far too much ink for an SS officer and looks a bit silly. The fact that the real SS had no female officers anyway (as far as I know) is neither here nor there. This is a Full Moon production after all.

A brief cameo by a certain female puppet from "Puppet Master: Axis of Evil" (2010) is a treat for fans of the series, but I haven't got that far through them yet and have no idea who she is either.

If you want to watch "Nazithon" for free, just click on the banner below, sign up, and use one of the promo codes from Full Moon's Facebook page. It's only 80 minutes long and you might enjoy some of it.

Upcoming Horror Movie - Live-In Fear (2012)

"In the snowy Utah mountains, an ancient being terrorizes four friends as they try to survive."

I can't quite work out what "Live-In Fear" is supposed to be about from the trailer so I don't know if it's a supernatural horror or a slasher.

In an attempt to discover more, I even broke one of my unwritten rules and asked for a screener a few weeks ago. Since I have yet to receive one, I'm assuming the worst about this movie already, but I do like the poster.

Among others, "Live-In Fear" stars Arielle Brachfield and Maria Olsen who were both in "The Haunting of Whaley House" (2012) which I've already favourably reviewed.

According to the IMDb page, "Live-In Fear" was written and directed by Brandon Scullion and had an estimated budget of $50,000.

I know what you're thinking because I'm thinking it too. "Live-In Fear" will probably be little more than a glorified YouTube video which everyone ends up watching on Netflix when they've run out of real horror movies. But should a screener for it ever turn up, I'm still prepared to give it a chance.

Check out the official website for more details.
