An interview with Nicole Blessing

Nicole Blessing is an actress and model. She has done quite a few independent films, most of which are still being edited. "Doomed To Consume" from NFTS Productions, in which she plays tough, zombie-killing girl Traci Loomis, is finished.

"Door to Door", a horror short by Ed Linder, is currently on the "On the Lot" website. Nicole plays the mysterious and seductive Linda.

Nicole kindly agreed to answer a few questions for me proving that she is not only a beautiful scream queen but a wonderful human being as well. Here's what she had to say...

How did you become an actress/scream queen?
I was always interested in acting, but only started to pursue it seriously several years ago. I had done some commercial work, plays, and a few independent films when I was cast in NFTS Productions’ feature "Doomed To Consume". I liked playing dark, troubled characters and searched for more roles of this nature.

What has been the high point of your career so far?
I feel I haven’t hit a high point yet.

And the lowest?
Any time when I feel there is a gap between projects. I like to keep busy.

Do you have any aspirations to be an actor in a big budget major motion picture?
Oh definitely. Some of my upcoming projects have larger budgets. "Mourne", a werewolf thriller set in Northern Ireland, will be a major picture.

What would be your ideal role?
I would love to play a Bond girl. They are such memorable characters. I’d also like to play a hip witch with really cool powers.

Who do you admire in show business?
I admire Meryl Streep and Judi Dench. Both have such versatility and aren’t afraid to take risks.

If you could be anyone else for 24 hours who would you want to be?
George W. Bush, so I could approve the plan for pulling U.S. troops out of Iraq. I have issues with some of the actions of the Bush administration, and often wonder what the rest of the world must think of us. The majority wants a plan to exit Iraq; Congress has developed a plan, and Bush says he’ll veto it. 24 hours is ambitious, but I’d be highly motivated.

If you were a cartoon character who would it be?
It would have to be Wonder Woman. I want access to the invisible jet.

Do you like to break rules or are you a good girl?
I’d like to think I break the rules.

Do you think that you are unique?
Yes I feel I have a very unique look. I’m tall, thin, yet curvy, and have fabulous red hair.

What part of the industry really pisses you off?
There are parts of any industry that can be annoying. At this point it would be people unwilling to take chances with unknowns, and not being able to find a good agent.

Do you get any scary fans or have they all been nice to you?
For the most part everyone that’s taken an interest in my work has been nice.

If you were cast in an episode of 'Lost' or 'Nip/Tuck' who would you befriend and who would you least like to have an onscreen romance with?
If it were an episode of 'Lost', I would befriend Jack. When you’re on an isolated island, it’s always a good idea to be friends with a doctor. I would be least likely to have a romance with Sawyer. He’s just a little too cranky.
If it were 'Nip/Tuck', I would befriend Christian. He’s had some interesting character transitions throughout the series. I’d be least likely to have an onscreen romance with Liz. We’d definitely be great friends, and I’d want to help her find a better girlfriend than Poppy. She was just a bitch to Liz.

Have you ever thought of being on a reality TV show?
Not really. If I did I’d like to be on "Dancing With The Stars", but you sort of have to be a star to get on it. I love ballroom dancing, and it would be amazing to train with a professional. The tango is my favourite dance.

What would you like to win?
Cash prizes are always good. I’d like to win a sports car. I have a very practical car for my dogs, but it’s not as fun to drive as a sports car.

I see you also do some modelling. What would be your ideal photoshoot?
It would be for "Vogue" or maybe "Sports Illustrated". I’d like to shoot some place warm and near an ocean.

And the worst?
Anything that would involve working with spiders. I’ve never had a desire to be upclose with a spider, especially ones large enough that you can see their fangs.

What is your favourite brand of make-up?
Predominately Guerlain, MAC, and Senna. Guerlain has great bronzers, and I love their Meteorite powder. MAC has amazing colors and really intense purple pigments that bring out my green eyes. Senna overall is a wonderful line. I’m a big fan of their pressed mineral mix foundation and concealer.

What do you like to do most when not acting or modelling?
Kickboxing, jiu jitsu, and walking the dogs.

What time do you normally get up and go to bed?
It depends where I’m working. Lately I wake up about 8am and go to sleep some time around 11 or 11:30pm. The dogs won’t let me sleep too late, they want their breakfast.

Have you ever stayed awake more than 24 hours in a row, internetting for instance? Have you become addicted to the net yet?
I have on several occasions. Studying for finals, moving, internetting, and when Coco and Chanel got into chocolate and we had to make them throw it up. They fully recovered, but were sick all night.

Do you eat a lot of chocolate?
I do, but not in excess. I love chocolate with raspberry filling. I have a chocolate fountain.

Do you have a favourite website?

Besides Dr Blood's Video Vault, I like imdb and ebay. I love imdb, if you’re watching something and you can’t place an actor or want to know who directed something, you can find it on imdb. Ebay has everything.

Have you bought anything good from ebay or a garage sale?
Both. I love eBay. I’ve found things on ebay I thought I’d never find. One year for Christmas my mom really wanted a Victorian mourning ring like her mother had. If you are unfamiliar with a Victorian mourning ring, it’s a flat piece of onyx in a setting with a little diamond in the middle. They are hard to find, let alone one that had to adhere to specifications. After three months of looking on ebay I finally found the perfect one.
I’ve got some things at garage sales, but not as much. I used to go with my sister who would plan out where we would go the day before. She took it very seriously.

Do you like shopping?
I love shopping. I’m currently very into Bebe Sport outfits. They are just so cute, and yet practical. I would wear them all the time if I could.

If you were stranded in a jungle which three things would you like to have with you?
I would want things to help me get out of the jungle, so a compass, a knife, and a satellite phone. If I could have a fourth thing I’d like a piece of chocolate.

What is your favourite meal? Do you have a favourite recipe?
I don’t cook very much. When I was little my grandma taught me more practical things like how to play cards and effectively bluff. My favourite meal is the California Pizza Kitchen’s shrimp scampi pizza and a glass of Merlot or Cabernet.
I have a great recipe for crab dip. It’s made in a bread bowl, and has always been well received when I’ve taken it to parties.

How many cheesey poofs can you get into your mouth in one go?
That’s a hard question. Since I don’t have any readily available I’ll have to guess 15. They kind of dissolve a little in your mouth so you’d be able to get more in.

What is your favourite brand of cola?
Coke. Preferably Coke with Lime, but not diet. I don’t drink anything diet. I like Propel and Vitamin water too, although they aren’t cola.

If you were able to go anywhere in time, where would you go and what would you do there?
I would go back to London in 1888 and catch Jack the Ripper.

Who is your favourite author?
I have several favourite authors. I’m a big fan of J.K. Rowling, Agatha Christie, Tom Clancy, Dan Brown, and soon to be published author Andy Smith.

Do you read a lot of books?
I do. I try to diversify my reading material. I just finished a Final Cut Pro manual, and can’t wait for the last Harry Potter book. My niece got me hooked on them a few years ago. She has all of them so I read one right after the other.

What scares you?
Rats. I hate them. They can carry disease; they’re smart and they bite.

What do you like most about Dr Blood's Video Vault?
The movie reviews.

Would you have your picture taken wearing nothing but a Dr Blood's Video Vault t-shirt if you were sent one?
Sure.

Which question would you most like to be asked?
How did you get those great abs?

And the answer to that question?
Pilates.

Thank you.

An interview with Rena Riffel

Rena Riffel is an actress best known for her co-starring roles in "Showgirls" (1995) and "Striptease" (1996). However, she also has a darker side with aspirations to become the world's greatest scream queen!

With several horror roles already under her belt, including playing Lena in "Candyman: Day of the Dead" (1999) and Detective LaRue in "Dark Reel" (2008), she is already well on her way. Rena also directed/produced/wrote and plays the lead in "Trasharella" (2009).

Rena recently took some time away from her hectic Hollywood lifestyle and kindly agreed to answer a few questions for me. Here's what she had to say...

How did you become an actress?
I started taking an acting class, there was a showcase day with an agent that came to see the class. The agent signed me and a week after, he sent me on my first audition. It was for Bert I. Gordon, the director of a lot of famous cult films from the 50's, 60's, 70's like "Village Of The Giants", "Empire Of The Ants", "Earth Versus The Spider" "Attack Of The Puppet People"! Great titles!! So, I auditioned for him and he called my agent and said, "I am the best fuckin' actress to walk through his doors in a very long time". It was a death scene I auditioned for. And he read the lines with me. I was 18 or 19, so I did my reading as if it were a dramatic piece. I screamed so loud that I was embarrassed after the audition. They told my agent that I would have to drop a few pounds because I was playing a high fashion model.. so I starved myself. The film is "Satan's Princess". My Mom was on set with me. It was a great time. I thought I had really made it big at that point. LOL! That was Bert I. Gordon's last film he made. Though, he is still alive and well. I wish I could see him and thank him for my big break into acting. He "taft-hartley"-ed me. Which means, if you are non-union and get hired on a Union project, the producers have to pay more to get you into the SAG Union. So, I was really fortunate I got into SAG that way.

Did you do well at school or did you hate it?
Both. I got good grades, I was an over-achiever. But, I couldn't wait to graduate and get on with my life and career.

What has been the high point of your career so far?
Getting my hand prints and name in cement in front of the Hollywood Vista Theater at the MGM Showgirls DVD Box Set red carpet premiere in 04'.

And the lowest?
Lots of highs and lows. Mr. Skin said I have the most "schizo" career.

What part of the industry really pisses you off?
Auditioning and not getting the part.

What would be your ideal role?
A lead role in an A-List big budget film directed by a genius talented director.

And the worst one?
A stripper with one line in a non-union no budget movie with a bad script to start with.

If you were cast in an episode of 'Desperate Housewives' who would you befriend and who would you least like to have an onscreen romance with?
Marc Cherry.

Have you ever thought of being on a reality TV show such as Big Brother?
I was in a pilot called, "The Real Hollywood" with Season 1 Big Brother winner, Mike Boogie. I would like to be on a reality show, as long as I don't have to eat worms or be in a rehab.

What would you like to win?
A new car, money, a vacation to St. Martin...

If you were to be given a million dollars right now, what would be the first thing you'd do?
Buy a nice house to live in.

What are your current projects?
A thriller dance movie, two films in pre-production with Tony Todd, Inner Balance with Josh Eisendstadt, a couple horror scripts I am writing/producing, some low budget horror films, a documentary I am making... ok, I'll stop there.

Do you like to break rules or are you a good girl?
I'm a good girl.

Who do you admire in show business?
Naomi Watts. Drew Barrymore.

What is your favourite film ever?
Grease.

If you could be anyone else for a day who would you want to be?
Ennio Morricone. Or Madonna.

As a model, what would be your ideal photoshoot?
In the French Riviera shooting with Helmet Newton. I was scheduled to do a shoot with him in 1994 while I was at the Cannes Film Fest. The director was good friends with him... but we never made it down there.

And the worst one?
Shooting with a psycho pervert.

What is your favourite brand of make-up?
Maybelline.

Who is your favourite fashion stylist?
Dita Von Tease.

What do you like to do most when not acting or modelling?
Be alone, write, workout, dance class.

What music do you like?
I am loving Ennio Morricone and Piero Umiliani.

Do you play any instruments?
Kind of, a jack of all instruments. A master at none.

What time do you normally get up and go to bed?
Late to bed, late to rise.

Have you ever stayed awake more than 24 hours in a row, internetting for instance?
Only when taking long flights to Europe or when I went to the Carribean for Dante's Cove... I can't sleep on planes.

Have you become addicted to the net yet?
Yes, I sometimes get addicted to the internet... but mostly, just addicted to my computer and working on scripts or editing film.

Do you have a favourite website?
Of course, Dr Blood's Video Vault!

Have you ever bought anything from ebay or a garage sale?
Yes, a 1950's desk at a side walk sale and a 1930's hat from ebay. The hat was much smaller than it appeared to be in the ebay picture.

Would you have your picture taken wearing nothing but a Dr Blood's Video Vault t-shirt if you were sent one?
LOL. Of course!!

If you were stranded on a desert island which three things would you like to have with you?
Food, Water, and Internet. (that includes my computer)

What is your favourite meal? Do you have a favourite recipe?
Sushi.

If you were able to go anywhere in time, where would you go and what would you do there?
I would be on stage as Josephine Baker in 1920's France doing the banana dance.

Do you get any scary fans or have they all been nice to you?
My fans are nice and wonderful people.

What scares you?
Nothing.

If you were a cartoon character who would it be?
I like Jessica Rabbit. Hhhmm, Olive Oil. Or no, Speedy Gonzales.

What advice would you give an aspiring actress/actor?
Don't do it!!! Just kiddin'. I would tell them to get my upcoming book, The Starlet Survival Guide. Then they can survive in this industry, like I have managed to do.

Do you read a lot of books? Who is your favourite author?
No, I wish I would make more time for reading. It's on my list.

Which question would you most like to be asked?
How old are you and how much do you weigh?

And the answer to that question?
I don't really want to be asked that. How bout, would you like to join us for some champagne, caviar and crackers in Monte Carlo and we can discuss the financing of your new movie? And YES!

Thank you.

An interview with Rachel Grubb

Rachel Grubb is an actress and model from Minneapolis. She starred in "13 Hours In A Warehouse" (2008) and was a major part of the all female independent production company called "Silent-But-Deadly Productions". She is currently working in L.A. and has recently appeared in the horror/thriller "Cut" (2011).

In March 2008. Rachel took some time away from her busy schedule and kindly agreed to answer a few questions for me. Here's what she had to say...

How did you become an actress?
I went to school for writing, and that was my main interest. I always thought I would be a novelist, until I became very interested in film. When I graduated from college, I wrote my first screenplay, which won a Best Breakthrough Screenplay award from the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival. I wanted to write more, and maybe direct. Then I thought I would want to act in my own stuff, but I didn't really know how. So I started taking acting classes, and auditioning for local films. I was doing really well with that, and now I consider myself an actor, first and foremost.

What has been the high point of your career so far?
The highest point was directing my first feature film "Why Am I In A Box?" Two other actresses, Heather Amos and Brooke Lemke, started an all female independent production company called "Silent-But-Deadly Productions". All three of us are going to be directing at some point. In fact, Brooke is set to direct two short films this spring. But I went first, because I was the one who happened to have a screenplay about halfway finished. Preproduction for that was so crazy. I had never directed before, and I was very nervous. There were several times when I said to myself, "Why did I think I could direct?" But I had Heather and Brooke, and an awesome crew, and I had a great time doing it. I'm working on editing right now.

And the lowest?
I don't think the low point has come around yet. Some times have been better than others, but if there was a low point, I feel like I would know it right away.

What advice would you give an aspiring actress/actor?
I would recommend that you take classes. Some classes are better than others, so get some feedback from other actors in your area before you pay for anything. Natural talent will get you far, but one thing you will learn from taking classes is how to present yourself at an audition. There are a lot of mistakes actors make when they go to auditions that they don't even realize, because they don't see the audition from the point of view of the director. For example, if you make a mistake when you are reading, do not apologize. An actor might apologize for blowing a line, and s/he might think s/he is saying, "I know I did this wrong, and I can do better." But from the director's point of view, it's more like, "I wanted to point out this screw up, in case you were distracted by all the things I did well!" The director may not notice or care about one little screw up, if s/he thinks the actor did well over all.
Another bit of advice I can give is that if you have a film school in your town, audition for student films if you get the chance. They very rarely pay, but if you have little to no experience, it is a great way to get resume credits and material for your demo reel. Even if you do have some experience, it's always good to stay in practice if you are between projects. Film students can write some interesting and challenging roles, so you will learn a lot, and get free pizza.
As a matter of fact, one student film I did got distribution, and is coming to DVD this year. JP Wenner, director of "The Spooner Sisters" did a student project called "Retina" which is going to be released on an anthology of horror shorts called "The Horror Vault".

Do you have any aspirations to be an actor in a big budget major motion picture?
Not really. That isn't to say that I wouldn't do one. I'm not opposed to it, by any means. I just love acting, and there are very few movies I wouldn't enjoy doing. But I do enjoy working in independent film. Although working on a big budget movie would give me an opportunity to work with new people.

If you were to be given a million dollars right now, what would be the first thing you'd do?
I would fund my next feature film.

What would be your ideal role?
I would have loved to play Bettie Page in "The Notorious Bettie Page." I'm a big fan of Bettie, and I think she would be an interesting role.

And your worst one?
No particular role comes to mind. I can say that I wouldn't want to play a role that people are just going to laugh at in a bad way. Also, my idea of a bad role is one in which I did not feel appreciated by the filmmakers.

Who do you admire in show business?
John Waters. I would love to act in any of his films. I like his early work, but one of my favorites is "Pecker." I also admire Asia Argento. She made "The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things," which was based on the book by JT LeRoy. Just after she finished, it came out that JT LeRoy did not exist, but she stood by her film, because she believed it was valid. I thought it was an excellent film. Also also admire her father, Dario Argento. I'm a big fan of his giallos. A horror film I acted in called "13 Hours In A Warehouse" recently played at the Nevermore Film Festival. Dario Argento's "Tenebre" also screened there, and I got to see it in the theater, which was exciting for me! And my favorite director of all time, David Cronenberg.

If you could be anyone else for 24 hours who would you want to be?
John Malkovich. Who else?

What part of the industry really pisses you off?
The tabloids. I don't like it that being very successful in mainstream cinema or TV means that people are allowed to take pictures of you wherever you go, and sell them. And I don't like it that it becomes more about their personal lives than their work. We all have personal lives, and issues we are working through. We don't all make films. Isn't that what we should want to read about? If you want to know who's dating who, and what problems they're going through, you can ask their friends.

Do you like to break rules or are you a good girl?
When I am on a film set, I am a good girl. I am not perfect, but I try to be as professional as possible, no matter how big or small the project.

Do you think that you are unique?
Yes, I do. I've heard it from a lot of other people, too. I think I have a different look, and can play a variety of roles.

If you were cast in an episode of 'Nip/Tuck' or 'Lost' who would you befriend and who would you least like to have an onscreen romance with?
You just named my two favorite shows! If I were on 'Nip/Tuck' I would probably befriend Christian, only I would be a quirky, bohemian chick who Christian thought was beneath him. He's with so many rich and gorgeous models, I think it would be great for him to meet someone completely different from him. I would least like to have an onscreen romance with Matt. I think John Hensley is a great actor, but his character has issues.
If I were on 'Lost' I would probably befriend Charlie. I used to live in England, and I think I probably would have seen his band before. We would have a lot on common. In a total 360, I would also befriend John Locke. He seems to understand the island more then anyone, including Ben. Speaking of Ben, he is the one I would least like to have an onscreen romance with. His is compelling as a character, and I hope he never dies, but he's just creepy!

Since 'Lost' often appears to be all about time travel, if you were able to go anywhere in time, where would you go and what would you do there?
I'd like to go back to the 60's. I've always loved the music and clothes from that era, even when I was a kid. I'd like to see The Beatles or The Rolling Stones play.

As a model, What would be your ideal photoshoot?
I would like to do a 1920's shoot. I do a lot of vintage pin up and film noir and classic Hollywood glamour, but I've never been able to do a 20's shoot before. I'd like to look like a silent film star.

And your worst?
Any shoot in which I did not have access to the styling and wardrobe required to make it work.

What is your favourite brand of make-up?
On a regular day, I don't wear makeup. The best makeup I have ever worn was in "13 Hours In A Warehouse". Crist Ballas did that, and it took about 3 hours a day to put on.

Who is your favourite fashion stylist?
Brittany Hughes. She was the costume designer for my movie, "Cave Women On Mars." I played Hagra, the leader of the evil cave women, so my costume was all black leather. She was the wardrobe stylist for the "bloody prom" photo on my Scream Queen Poker Chip.

Have you ever bought anything from ebay or a garage sale?
Oh, yeah, I am on ebay all the time! I mostly buy collectible stuff, but I also buy clothes. Corsets mostly.

What are your favourite websites, and how often do you surf the net?
My favorite website is Engrish.com. I think it's hilarious! Any time I'm having a bad day, I always go and check out the daily Engrish. Over in Japan, there is a lot of English writing on shirts and signs and other things. But because our languages are so different, they don't always get it right. The result is sometimes hilarious, and Engrish.com posts it. My favorites are a birthday card that says, "I wish you many happy comes in your future life," and a Christmas card that says, "Have you done a nice boy and girl?" Yeah, I'm easily amused!

What time do you normally get up and go to bed?
I get up at 6am, so that I can work out. Then I feel adequately awake. I go to bed between midnight and two most of the time.

Do you read a lot of books?
I don't read as much as I used to, but yes, I have read a lot of books. I did my degree in English at school.

Did you do well at school or did you hate it?
I did well at school, and I hated it. I was smart, and I got pretty good grades, but I did not enjoy it. I am glad I got a college education, though.

Who is your favourite author?
William Burroughs. I read "Naked Lunch" when I was 17 and haven't been the same since. As a writer, it completely changed my view of what writing could be.

What do you like to do most when not acting or modelling?
I like to watch movies. When I'm with my friends, I usually like to go out to eat and check out different restaurants.

What is your favourite meal? Do you have a favourite recipe?
I love sushi. Just about any kind of sushi, really. My favorite is probably the crunchy roll. I like to make sushi with my dad, too. He took a class in it, and he shows me how.

Do you eat a lot of chocolate?
Absolutely! I love chocolate!

Do you like dentists?
No.

What scares you?
Dentists. And creepy children. I'm a sucker for a horror movie with a malevolent child.

Do you get any scary fans or have they all been nice to you?
My fans are all nice to me. The fan letters I have received, and the people who have requested autographs have all been very pleasant and respectful. I appreciate them very much.

Thank you.

An interview with Lindsay MacFarland

Lindsay MacFarland is an actress and model who works in Los Angeles. Though not strictly a horror actress, Lindsay did once play a supporting role in a Hallmark film called "Monster Makers".

In January 2008, Lindsay agreed to answer a few interview questions for me. Here's what she had to say...

How did you become an actress?
I’ve been acting ever since I could remember. I’ve always had a passion for performing. When I was young (around 4 or 5), I would put on plays with my older brother and perform for my family. In elementary school, I was always the lead in the school plays. It wasn’t until junior high that I was introduced to a video camera. This was probably the moment in time when my passion turned from the theater to motion pictures. I started making movies out of the books I was reading in school. I would hire my friends and family as the actors. After filming the first one, I tried handing it in for extra credit in my English class, and it worked! So, I continued to bring our class readings to the big (actually, very small) screen. I had so much extra credit, the teacher didn’t know what to do. From that moment on, I was hooked.

Did you do well at school or did you hate it?
I always loved school. Test taking came very easy to me. I’ve had some amazing teachers along the way, which I really think helped me enjoy it.

Do you like to break rules or are you a good girl?
I like being a good girl. I take pride in always trying to do the right thing. When I break the rules (even if I tell just a little white lie) I feel sick to my stomach for days. And, I’ve never thought that it was worth it.

What has been the high point of your career so far? And the lowest?
There have been many highlights. Working with talented actors like Eric Bana has been wonderful, and I have learned so much from all of my co-stars along the way. I think that the lowest point might have been from a modeling call I attended once, when I was in high school. The woman told me that my 5’7”, 115 pound frame was “just too fat” for modeling. It hurts to hear words like that. So, that’s when I focused strictly on acting. I knew I wasn’t cut out to be a model.

Do you have any aspirations to be an actor in a big budget major motion picture?
I’ve been blessed to have already worked in big budget films. Do I love it? Yes. Is it my ultimate goal? Not exactly. I would really love acting roles that are more “having-a-family-friendly”, where the hours aren’t so long, and you have a more steady schedule (i.e. television sitcom). I want to have children someday, and I’d like to be around to raise them.

What would be your ideal role? And your worst one?
I would love to be able to portray a powerful, strong woman. Something along the lines of Angelina Jolie in “Tomb Raider” or Linda Hamilton in “Terminator 2”. The worst role for me would be something that you might catch on late night Cinemax. I knew from the first moment that I came to LA, that those roles would come my way, and sometimes it would be hard to turn down the money. So, since coming out here, my motto has been “I don’t work on projects that I wouldn’t be proud to show my dad”. I’ve stuck to that. And, I feel that in the long run, it’s saved me a lot of heartache.

Have you ever thought of being on a reality TV show such as Big Brother?
I’ve had the opportunity to be on a reality show, and I turned it down. At the time, I hadn’t done any substantial projects, so I was afraid that it would’ve been difficult to break free from the “reality star” typecast.

What part of the industry really upsets you?
One of the hardest things about this industry is all of the catch-22s. You can’t get an agent without any work, and you can’t get any work without an agent. The same thing with our union. You can’t join SAG without working as a SAG member, yet you can’t work as a SAG member without being SAG. It’s basically a crap-shoot as to whether or not it will all come together. I think that because of this format, we are missing out on some amazing talent just because they couldn’t get their foot in the door.

Do you think that you are unique?
That’s a hard question. I think that everyone is unique. No two people are the same, and I hope that goes for me as well. I’m not the sort of person that stands out it a crowd because I wear crazy clothes or hairstyles, but I feel that I have many unique life experiences and qualities that make me different from the next person.

If you could be anyone else for 24 hours who would you want to be?
I would probably want to be the head of a major studio such as Paramount or Sony Pictures. I think it would really benefit me, as an actor, to see the whole picture, especially from the production standpoint.

Who do you admire in show business?
I’ve always admired Natalie Portman. She seems to be able to juggle the struggles of the business with poise and grace, while still saving time to be a humanitarian on the side.

What is your favourite brand of make-up?
MAC. My sister works as a make-up artist for MAC, and over the years, she’s made me a loyal customer.

Who is your favourite fashion stylist?
I love anything from Prada. Unfortunately, I haven’t had enough free flowing money to spend it on anything in their stores, but I’m looking forward to the day that I can buy a pair of heels and a matching handbag.

If you were to be given a million dollars right now, what would be the first thing you'd do?
Invest it. I would love to have my money work for me someday. One of these days, I’ll be opening the Wall Street Journal over my morning tea and muffin, and check up on my stocks for the day.

Do you like tea? How about cola?
I don’t drink much cola. My favorite beverage is iced tea. You’ll hardly ever catch me at a lunch without one.

What do you like to do most when not acting or modelling?
I love playing with my dog. He’s an amazing little guy. I also just took up learning to play the guitar. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do. And, I recently started taking lessons to get my pilot’s license.

Do you read a lot of books?
I don’t have too much time to read, but I do enjoy it. Right now, I’m reading John Steinbeck’s “East of Eden”, and I’m really liking it so far.

What time do you normally get up and go to bed?
Usually, I’m an “early to bed, early to rise” sort of person. I usually go to bed around 10:30, and I then wake up around 7 in the morning.

Have you ever stayed awake more than 24 hours in a row, internetting for instance?
Yes, I remember I stayed awake that long once. But, I wasn’t internetting. In high school, my friend and I were trying to win tickets to a Garth Brooks concert by entering a poster contest. We spent ALL night long on this poster, and had to go straight to the judging when we were done. We ended up winning the tickets, and saw the concert from the front row! It happened to fall on a night when he was recording footage for his music video “It’s Your Song”. So, if you watch it carefully, you can see me!

If you were able to go anywhere in time, where would you go and what would you do there?
I would probably go back to see my grandmother. She died when I was very young, yet she was such a wonderful woman that she still has an impact on me. So, I’d like to go back and really get to know her, adult to adult.

If you were stranded on a desert island which three things would you like to have with you?
My Blackberry, my dog, and craft service!

Do you get any scary fans or have they all been nice to you?
So far, all of my fans have been wonderful and supportive. It still surprises me when I get recognized while out running errands. It always makes me wish that I would’ve taken the extra time to throw on some mascara.

What advice would you give an aspiring actress/actor?
Act your heart out. There will be so many discouraging moments along the way, but if you believe in yourself, all of your wildest dreams will come true. Surround yourself with people who encourage you and your aspirations.

Thank you.

An interview with Seregon O'Dassey

Seregon O'Dassey is an actress and model who works mainly in New York, Philly, and Baltimore. Her feature film "Ghostwatcher 2" was released by Lion's Gate in October 2005 and she has just finished filming a lead role in the new sci-fi film "Cleric" (2011).

In May 2007, Seregon kindly agreed to answer a few questions for me. Here's what she had to say...

How did you become an actress/model/scream queen?
It's funny, you know I never really wanted to be a scream queen. I always thought it would limit what work I could do. But when I did a horror movie a couple of years ago (Ghostwatcher 2) I somehow got the "title" or "label" of scream queen attached to me. I've since done other horror movies and shorts, but it's not all I've done.
I became an actress years ago. It all started when I got into role playing when I was about 14 or so. I started taking acting and modeling classes and it all snowballed from there. I started singing backup for local bands, and next thing I know I'm getting commercials and photo shoots.

What has been the high point of your career so far?

Achieving my goals. In the past 2 years I've had 2 movies come out on the shelf and I finally got into Playboy Magazine (after 5 years of trying). I've been acting and modeling since I was a teenager, so to finally reap some rewards and have all the hard work start to pay off feels very good.

And the lowest?
I'm not sure if there is one specific thing that I consider the lowest point in my career, but one of the low points is having the industry be so cutthroat. It's difficult to have friends in this business, so I cherish the ones that I do have.

What part of the industry really pisses you off?
There are a couple of things. But mainly it would be nice to meet someone without the expectation of a date. It's also infuriating to read casting notices where almost everyone wants nudity, and they expect you to work for free! That, to me, is the height of disrespect.

Do you have any aspirations to be an actor in a big budget major motion picture?
Absolutely! That is, in fact my ultimate goal.

What would be your ideal role?
I would love a highly intense or emotional role; something where I could really put my heart and soul on the line. That would really be something where I can show some real talent.

Who do you admire in show business?
I really admire people who work hard and study their roles. I admire Jennifer Connolly, Sandra Bullock, Tom Hanks, and many other actors who really let their roles overtake them.

If you could be anyone else for 24 hours who would you want to be?
Acting is all about being something you usually are not, but I'd say I'd like to be a man for a day, just to see what it's like on the other side.

If you were able to go anywhere in time, where would you go and what would you do there?
The medieval ages. I took several courses in college about the era and I know a lot about it. It fascinates me. The way people acted, what they believed as far as religion and medicine go. I would show them how to do things the right way.
The Tudors (on Showtime) didn't get the history completely accurate… yet I can't stop watching it!!!

If you were a cartoon character who would it be?
She-Ra because she's cool. She's one person who can change into another and kick some bad ass! And she gets to ride a flying unicorn. Who else can say that?

Do you like to break rules or are you a good girl?
Haha! What do you think?? Seriously, I don't break laws, but I bend the rules to accommodate myself now and then…

Do you think that you are unique?
I'm one of a kind, baby!

If you were cast in an episode of 'Buffy' or 'Angel' who would you befriend and who would you most like to have an onscreen romance with?
I would most likely side with Angel, simply because he's a Vampyre, but he doesn't want to harm anyone he doesn't have to. He shows everyone that just because you are a certain thing doesn’t mean you have to act a certain way. I would so have an affair with James Marsters (who played Spike). How hot is he??

Have you ever thought of being on a reality TV show?
I was on the 5th wheel about 6 or 7 years ago. It was ridiculous. No one is really who you see. They tell you what to say, how to say it, and they show you what they want. It is NOT reality…

What would you like to win?
Doesn’t matter. Those shows are bullshit. They take time from the networks, which means they take jobs away from real, hard working actors.

As a model, what would be your ideal photoshoot?
I would really like to do something high fashion, for maybe Christian Dior or Dolce & Gabbana. They have awesome ads, they're very creative.

And the worst?
One of those cheesy modeling "workshops". It ends up being a bunch of guys with cameras that don't really care about art or photography - they just want to stare at a bunch of pretty girls.

Do you have a favourite brand of make-up?
Not really a favorite, but Neutrogena and Clinique are very good for the skin.

What do you like to do most when not acting or modelling?
Read. Go to the gym. Talk to my friends on the phone. Answer interview questions. ;)

Do you read a lot of books?
Whenever I have the time, yes. I have always loved to read both fiction and non fiction. Knowledge is power.

Who is your favourite author?
Anne Rice is one of them. Konstantinos is another.

Have you ever stayed awake more than 24 hours in a row, internetting for instance?
In fact I have, but not on the internet.

What time do you normally get up and go to bed?
I'm usually up around 9:30am or so, and in bed by 1am.

Do you have a favourite website?
I've grown fond of YouTube, LOL… I also go to nutritiondata.com a lot because it has an accounting of all the calories in all kinds of foods. It's very helpful for someone who's weight watching.

What is your favourite meal? Do you have a favourite recipe?
I don’t have a favorite meal or recipe, but I watch Rachel Ray and I think I may have actually learned a thing or two!

Do you eat a lot of chocolate?
Depends on what week it is.

How many marshmallows can you get into your mouth in one go?
I can honestly say I have no idea, I've never tried. But now you've got me thinking…

What is your favourite brand of cola?
I don't really drink soda, except with Stoli Vanilla, and it would be Coke or Pepsi with it.

If you were stranded in Germany which three things would you like to have with you?
Eine landkarte von Deutschland, etwas gerstensaft, und das rockband Oomph, ich kann also habe etwas musik!

Have you bought anything good from ebay or a garage sale?
Sure, who hasn't? You can find some great Goth clothes, if you know how to find them. I was going to buy a heart, but I got outbid. So as of now, I'm still heartless…

What scares you?
Clowns. God, I hate clowns…

Do you get any scary fans or have they all been nice to you?
I've received some weird emails, like asking to buy my lingerie and stuff, but no one really threatening (I don’t sell my underwear btw!), LOL

What do you like most about Dr Blood's Video Vault?
I like that the Vault has such an extensive list of horror movies and actors. I also like that Dr Blood finds something positive to say about pretty much every actor and film rather than something negative.

Would you have your picture taken wearing nothing but a Dr Blood's Video Vault t-shirt if you were sent one?
Sure, why not?

Which question would you most like to be asked?
What the hell took you so long to get "discovered"??

And the answer to that question?
Man, don't even get me started… (LOL) …

Thank you.

If you could be anyone else who would you want to be?
I am more than ok with being who I am, I can't think of anyone else I'd rather be.

Who do you admire in show business?
I admire a lot of classic actors and actresses. It has always been hard for me to pick just one person.

What part of the industry really pisses you off?
Jealous actors that have no reason to be jealous.

Well isn't everyone?

How many Cheez-its can you get into your mouth in one go?
You know, it never occurred to me to count.

If you were a cartoon character who would it be?
I'd say Daffy Duck, and I say that just because I like him best. :)

If you were cast in an episode of 'Buffy' or 'Angel' who would you befriend and who would you least like to have an onscreen romance with?

A very warm blanket, a knife, and good company.

Have you ever bought anything from ebay or a garage sale?
Sure, you can always find some kind of cool collectible.

Well, I'm Italian so pizza and pasta. My dad makes the best sauce, but I dare not give the recipe. :)

No, not really. I do LOVE Kit-Kat's though.

What is your favourite brand of cola?
COCA-COLA all the way!!!!!

Would you have your picture taken wearing nothing but a Dr Blood's Video Vault t-shirt if you were sent one?

An interview with Melissa Bacelar

Melissa Bacelar is an actress, writer and businesswoman. As an actress Melissa's credits include ABC's "One Life To Live" and several horror films including the award-winning "Strange Things Happen at Sundown".

In April 2008, Melissa Bacelar kindly agreed to answer a few questions for me, proving that she is not only a beautiful scream queen but a wonderful human being as well. Here's what she had to say...

How did you become an actress/scream queen?
Well that is simple. One day, when I was about 5 years old, I realized it was super easy for me to manipulate people. Seriously, I would study the adults, figure out what would make them give me my way... crying, yelling, flirting whatever and I would do it. By the time I was 15 I was really good and decided that manipulating others was my favorite past time. The only way to really bank on it, besides pulling an Anna and making an old rich guy think you love him, is to be an actress!! Oh, I also have a really good sense of humor. Basically, I always knew I wanted to be an actress and I started auditioning and booking roles!

Did you do well at school or did you hate it?
I basically manipulated my way through school. very easy to do at an all girl catholic school. I was basically smarter then everyone by 3rd grade and figured out how to cheat. I got decent grades and never brought home a book.

What has been the high point of your career so far?
There have been ALOT!! I am very, very, extremely grateful for all the opportunities I have been given. I worked with James Gunn on my first feature. One of my Best Friends is an amazing horror writer, Joshua Nelson. I have worked with numerous talented actors, directors, special FX people... The list goes on. But... the absolute highlight was getting a call from Star Magazine a few weeks ago wanting me to confess to and give them details on an alleged affair I had with Penelope Cruz!!! That was PRICELESS!!

And the lowest?
Well I would have to say when Troma took me to Cannes in 2000 to promote Citizen Toxie. I know what you are thinking, what could be low involving, Lloyd Kaufman, the Toxic Avenger and the French Riviera. Not much was low... Except, Lloyd kept inviting random people to stay in the apartment he rented for us and one night when I got back to the apartment some guy was laying on my pillow. The pillow was under his ass. I am not kidding.

Do you have any aspirations to be an actor in a big budget major motion picture?
Of course. I have been getting roles in bigger budget films lately. I have a few coming out in 2008. The biggest difference is you get a trailer as opposed to a chair!

What would be your ideal role?
Thats a tough one because it changes. Today it would be a neurotic, super sexy, ass kicking super hero!!!

And the worst one?
The Dumb Blonde!

Who do you admire in show business?
I admire anyone who stays grounded. Fame is a weird thing and people handle it differently and I think it's ok when actors freak out. Everyone does sometimes. But people like Asia Argento and Jamie Lee Curtis seem to have keeping it cool down to a science.

If you could be anyone else for 24 hours who would you want to be?
No one. I am fully content with me!

What part of the industry really pisses you off?
I have learned to love the industry for all it's worth. If you look hard enough at anything you will find fault. I just choose not to get caught up in the things that are out of my control. And in this industry most of it is out of my control!!

Do you get any scary fans or have they all been nice to you?
I always think it's weird when people are my fans. I love meeting people and getting emails and talking to people. But I never consider it a fan/actress relationship. I think of it as here is this person who enjoys the same stuff that I do. Cool... Lets talk!

If you were cast in an episode of 'Desperate Housewives' who would you befriend and who would you least like to have an onscreen romance with?
If I was on Desperate Housewives I would totally befriend the slutty one. I don't know her name on the show but I think she is engaged to Michael Bolton. But it's always more fun to play the slut. I would not want to have a romance with Marcia Cross, the red head. She freaks me out because she seems so fragile like you could break her!

Have you ever thought of being on a reality TV show such as Big Brother?
The thought has crossed my mind. But I know alot about editing! So I am fully aware that no matter how you actually act on the show a good editor can make you look BAD!

I see you also do some modelling. What would be your ideal photoshoot?
I just did it. For Playboy. It was sooooooooo fun. I think it will be in the magazine this summer. (Check out www.melissabacelar.com for details!)

What is your favourite brand of make-up?
Laura Mercier for photos and Benefit for everyday.

What do you like to do most when not acting or modelling?
I have six dogs and 3 bunnies and COUNTLESS wild animals in my yard. So most of my time goes to walking, feeding, cleaning... And I love it. Animals are the greatest gift a person could have!

What time do you normally get up and go to bed?
Well lately I have had to be on set by 8am. So I have been getting up at around 5am to feed everyone and going to bed by midnight!

Have you ever stayed awake more than 24 hours in a row, internetting for instance? Have you become addicted to the net yet?
Yes. Not internetting but I have had a few 24 hour days!! I am addicted to shopping on the internet. NeimanMarcus and ShopBop have had many orders from me at 2am!

Who is your favourite fashion stylist?
I am not sure. But my favorite designers are Stella McCartney, Christian Lacroix, La Rok, Casadei, Christian Dior, Chloe, Michael Kors... Ooooh the list goes on and on.

Have you ever bought anything from ebay or a garage sale?
Ebay yes. I have a crazy shoe addiction. Most of my shoes are upwards of $400. So ebay helps me out with that. I find great deals on designer shoes all the time! Garage Sales are not my thing.

If you were a cartoon character who would it be?
I am a cartoon character! Canina - www.ismelltrouble.com.

What is your favourite meal? Do you have a favourite recipe?
I definitely don't cook but I love breakfast and really good NY pizza!

How many cheesey poofs can you get into your mouth in one go?
Wow. Probably alot... I will say 20?? Is that possible. I have unfortunately never tried.

If you were stranded on a desert island which three things would you like to have with you?
Clarence, my dog. A vibrator (sorry mom) and my PDA.

If you were able to go anywhere in time, where would you go and what would you do there?
The Salem Witch Trials with a machine gun. Psychos hanging women would get blown away!

What scares you?
Sharks. I swear. Even sitting here in my room with no ocean in sight.. The thought of all those teeth makes me quiver! DAMN JAWS!

Would you have your picture taken wearing nothing but a Dr Blood's Video Vault t-shirt if you were sent one?
I would love to.

Which question would you most like to be asked?
Melissa, where I can I adopt a dog??

And the answer to that question?
Please go to your local shelter or Petfinder.com. Don't buy from pet stores or breeders!!

Thank you.

An interview with Tracy Timm

Tracy Timm is an actress, licensed massage therapist, photographer, wife and mother. She stars in the short horror feature "No. 12" which is currently available to view at http://films.thelot.com/films/22413.

In April 2007, Tracy answered a few questions for me. Here's what she had to say...

How did you become an actress/scream queen?
I started in college. I actually went to college to major in Photography. I had always wanted to take an acting class but was too afraid. So, I thought what the hell, I don't know any of these people! So I did it, and fell in love with it. I actually dropped my photography class and majored in performing arts. I've been acting ever since.

Did you do well at school or did you hate it?

I wasn't too into it in high school, but by college I was an A student and on the honor role. hee hee!

What has been the high point of your career so far?
I feel like my high point is yet to come... but as far as characters that I have been fortunate enough to play... Lizzie Borden (the axe murderer) in BLOOD RELATIONS was my favorite role thus far.

Do you have any aspirations to be an actor in a big budget major motion picture?
I absolutely do.

What would be your ideal role?
I love to play mentally unstable roles... hmmm?!

Who do you admire in show business?
The key to acting is to not get caught doing it. I admire anyone who can do that.

If you could be anyone else who would you want to be?
I have never wished for someone else's life. I like things just the way God gave them to me.

What part of the industry really pisses you off?
People tend to cast/hire actors that they know rather than letting a new talent that may blow them away into their project. It sucks.

Do you like to break rules or are you a good girl?
::sigh:: Good girl.

Do you think that you are unique?
Of course I do!

If you were cast in an episode of 'Invasion' or 'Lost' who would you befriend and who would you least like to have an onscreen romance with?
I would hang with Desmond or Locke. I'd never have a romance with Ben. He's an ass.

If you were stranded on a desert island which three things would you like to have with you?
Ugh. I hate this question. Lotion, watermelon and a toothbrush. I DON'T KNOW!

If you were able to go anywhere in time, where would you go and what would you do there?
As long as I could come back when I wanted, I'd go to the prehistoric age and see a real dinosaur.

Have you ever thought of being on a reality TV show such as Big Brother?
Maybe American Idol!

What would you like to win?
uh... the lottery...

What do you like to do most when not acting?
Spending time with my family.

What time do you normally get up and go to bed?
Anywhere from 5am to 7am and I go to bed usually around 11pm.

Have you ever stayed awake more than 24 hours in a row, internetting for instance?
NO!

What is your favourite brand of make-up?
Whatever's on sale. ;)

Have you ever bought anything from ebay or a garage sale?
Ebay=no
Garage sale=Heck ya!

If you were a cartoon character who would it be?
I'll go with Dr. Hibbert from The Simpsons. I have his laugh sometimes... he he he!

When was the last time you were ill?
I don't remember! I think I had a cold over the winter sometime.

Have you ever had traditional English fish and chips washed down with Tizer?
WTF is Tizer? (That would be a "no")

Tizer is a red fizzy drink. What is your favourite brand of cola?
Coke

What is your favourite meal? Do you have a favourite recipe?
I love Pizza!!!

Do you eat a lot of chocolate?
Define "a lot" ;)

Do you like dentists?
They help my teeth stay in my mouth.. so yes!

How many cheesey poofs can you get into your mouth in one go?
I have no idea... but I will soon find out!

Do you get obsessive fans or have you escaped so far?
Not so far! But maybe someday, eh?

Do you get any scary fans or have they all been nice to you?
No "fans" but a weird guy said he was going to "stabb" me once. Yikes! You really have to be careful of the scary fans that can't spell.

Would you have your picture taken wearing nothing but a Dr Blood's Video Vault t-shirt if you were sent one?
Absolutely! (as long as it covered my ass)

Which question would you most like to be asked?
Would you like to be in Steven Speilberg's next film?

And the answer to that question?
HELL YA!

Thank you.
